Explanation: The sign of a truly wise believer is the love of discipline, or correction. When we love God, we also love to do the right thing. We love that when we are going in the wrong direction, we are pulled aside, and corrected by the elders of the Church. If you hate to be corrected, the LORD calls you stupid. This is plain and clearly stated in verse 1. The LORD is pleased when we have good in our hearts for God's cause and for all at all times. The LORD condemns those who are wicked. Those who plan to do evil; you are against God. Wickedness cannot give security. Only the righteous stand firm. Even in marriage; when you practice good character, you are your spouse's pride and joy. A wicked spouse is like cancer in the bones. Honesty is better than dishonesty. Dishonesty is the same as murder. Truthful words are like medicine. Evil people often leave no legacy; no descendants; but the families of the righteous will live on. Their families are prosperous; fruitful. They are blessed for a thousand generations. If you live righteously; you will be praised. If not, people will look down on you. It is better to be an ordinary person working for a living than to play the part of someone great, but then go hungry. Good people take care even of their animals, but wicked people are evil and cruel to theirs. A hard-working farmer has plenty; but it is foolish to waste time on stupid projects that don't lead to anything prosperous. For example, sometimes people waste their time, money and effort on illegal gambling, drug dealing, prostitution, and similar things. The farmer, though he may seem to be doing bull work, he can peacefully sit at his table and enjoy plenty. People that choose illegal gain methods, many times lose even their lives. Being wicked is not worth it. The wicked are trapped by their own words, but an honest person can easily get themselves out of any trouble. Your reward depends on what you say, and what you do; you will get what you deserve. Stupid people always think they are right; you can't tell or teach them anything, they can never be corrected. Wise people listen to advice. They do not mind taking advice from others; even if they are younger than themselves. They understand that one person doesn't know it all. When a fool is annoyed, he quickly lets it be known by showing anger and even using physical force. Smart people know how to ignore an insult. It's not in their best interest to even give mind to insults; we know where it leads many times even to jail or the grave. Things can escalate quickly. Thoughtless words can wound as deeply as any sword, but wise words can heal. A lie has but short life. Lies don't get very far. They die shortly after they're told. Eventually the truth will be discovered. The truth lives on forever whether it be good or bad. We cannot change the truth or the facts of anything that has been said or done. Those who plan evil are in for a rude surprise. Those who work for good will find happiness. the LORD hates liars, but is pleased with those who keep their word. Smart people keep quiet about what they know. It is better to wait for the right time to speak about what you know. But, stupid people advertise their ignorance. Many times foolish people go on speaking about things that they are not sure are even factual. Hard work gives you power while laziness results in slavery for others. If you work hard, you can work for yourself. If you are lazy, you will have to work to make others rich. Worry can rob you of your joy or happiness, but kind words will cheer you up. A person that does not have God's assurance, will worry about everything. But a person of faith lives assured in His LORD and Creator. A Godly person that has love will be able to lovingly cheer you up with words of wisdom and encouragement. The righteous person is a guide to his friend, but the path of the wicked leads them astray. Someone who is righteous will give you good advice. They will help you to prosper in spirit, in your walk of faith, with your finances, with your relationships, etc. But someone who is wicked will encourage you to do the wrong thing. Often you will find destruction in your life that comes in many forms such as job loss, divorce, jail, and many other consequences. Righteousness is the road to life and prosperity. Wickedness is the road to death.
