  • God's promise can be trusted (Genesis 9: 17)
  • Jesus' established a new covenant (Luke 22: 20)
  • God's covenant brings life (2 Corinthians 3: 6)
  • The new covenant is superior to the old covenant (Hebrews 8: 6)
  • The old covenant foreshadowed the new covenant (Hebrews 10: 1)

After the flood (and the fall of man) God made a covenant with Noah, his family, and all flesh on earth.  He promised that He would never again destroy the whole earth by flood.  His promise can be trusted; because God cannot and will not lie.  Later, Jesus, in the feast of unleavened bread; or the last supper before the Passover, spoke about the meaning of the feast.  The feast symbolized His promise of a reconciliation of man with Him; His relationship with man; with His followers.  He had established a new covenant with believers.  He spoke saying, this is the new testament in my blood which is shed for you.  The feast was symbolic.  God's covenant brings life to those who believe.  God is our sufficiency.  We need not be concerned of what is written down in history or commend ourselves regarding our ability to Minister or our relationship with Christ; we don't need to be concerned whether or not we are recognized  in public in writing or receive letters of commendation for our relationship with Him, but, He sees our hearts in secret; and rewards us in secret.  He is our sufficiency.  The Holy Spirit gives us life when what is written can sometimes destroy us (when you take into consideration how we sometimes worry about these things).  The new covenant is superior to the old covenant in that Jesus has obtained a more excellent Ministry in that He died on the cross and paid the penalty of our sin.  He bought our salvation.  He is the mediator between us and the Father (God) and of a better covenant which has been established with better promises.  The old covenant foreshadowed the new covenant in that it was a preparation for the things to come; the sacrificial lambs that were used; were used with the purpose of preparing man for Jesus' (the ultimate) sacrifice which would be perfect for atonement (or payment) of our sins.  Everything God does and establishes is perfect, and is for a purpose.  When we look further into the meaning of it all and study the scriptures; with the help of the Holy Spirit, we are able to unlock the secrets and truth in everything, from how it was done, why it was done, and how we (the believers) are benefitting from it all.  So we should keep in mind to further study and find the amazing promise that our God has made for us all.. Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing to others..
