Loyalty
  • Friends are loyal (Proverbs 17: 17)-Proverbs 17:17 (KJV) A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
A true friend will love you through your worst times. Sometimes we can find friends that will love and support us even more so than our own siblings. Our siblings ( like the story of Cain & Abel)often compete with us and are rivals, sometimes in Church, with boyfriends/girlfriends, a job, or even for the affection/attention of our parents. But a true friend will love you at all times. You can count on a friend when you need something, whether it be help in the form of just being there to listen when you have a problem; a shoulder to cry on; are having a problem; need advice, need cash, need a favor, the list goes on and on.. We should value a friendship such as this, and give thanks to God for the very few true friends we find sometimes. Be appreciative; and reciprocate the love, or go above and beyond for a loyal friend.
  • We cannot divide our loyalty (Matthew 6: 24)-Matthew 6:24 (KJV) No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
In this passage, the loyalty described is the loyalty of God. God wants loyalty from His children in that He MUST come before ANYTHING ELSE in our lives. We must LOVE GOD above all else including money. We cannot serve God and serve money at the same time. We must love one or the other. If you love God, you must not dedicate your life searching for riches. The bulk of your time should be spent in serving the LORD. He should be your main focus. Therefore, you should not be so enticed by money that you would be caught up in doing anything illegal. We should not be cheating in any way. We should not compromise our dignity or salvation to gain riches. This does not mean that you cannot make an honest living. But this should not come between you and God.
  • There must be loyalty in marriage (Hebrews 13: 4)-Hebrews 13:4 (KJV) Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
The loyalty in marriage is so important. The reason it's so important is for reasons far above just hurting the one you love and made a promise to. It is symbolic of your love for God. If you cannot be loyal to your spouse, how can you be loyal to your God?

This study is short, but, nonetheless a great one. Loyalty is something that is hard to come by these days. It is something that we need to take a closer look at. We need to examine ourselves; and see how we can be honorable, and loyal not only to God, but to ourselves. We are only hurting ourselves if we live in deceit. We should pray for God to change anything in our hearts that may be crooked; or blind. Let's pray so that God would open our eyes and our hearts to live in a loyal way. May God abundantly bless you this and everyday. Until the next study.
